What format should my artwork be?

A good rule of thumb for uploading any image or design for print is ‘bigger is better’! Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise—size definitely matters. If you’re creating your own artwork for print, we recommend exporting your image as a .PNG with transparent background; RGB colour mode at 300 DPI.

Which print method is right for my project?

The most suitable process for your project ultimately comes down to your design and the quantity you’re after.

Digital Printing is superior at full-colour, photographic, and customisable prints. It’s suitable for natural fabrics such as cotton, silk, linen, and hemp. Digital Printing is the best option for you if you want a smaller run of 1-19 units, or if you have a photographic or colourful design and want to get the best quality result.

Screen Printing is better for solid and vibrant spot colours, such as matching Pantone colours in corporate logos. You can print on a variety of fabrics such as polyester. You can also order photographic and full-colour prints as screen prints, but you won’t get as much detail as a digital print for these designs. Screen Printing is more cost-effective in larger runs.

DTF (Direct to Film) printing works well with a variety of fabrics, including cotton, polyester, blends, and even some synthetic textiles. It's particularly effective on materials that have a smooth surface, allowing for optimal ink adherence and vibrant colour reproduction. Fabrics with a higher polyester content tend to yield excellent results, showcasing the versatility of DTF printing across a broad range of textile compositions.

Is it possible to have my image printed without the background?

If it’s a simple plain background (like white, black, or a solid colour around your image), we can remove it for you for free. Just email us at sales@theprintbar.com after you checkout with your order number. But if the background removal you require is a little bit more complicated, you might need to use a design service like Fiverr or hire a local designer to do it for you.

How do I fix my low res artwork?

You can go through the options above and collaborate with a reliable creative talent who can fix your low-resolution artwork for you.

Can I have a design created for me?

We don’t offer design in-house at the moment, but we highly recommend engaging a local artist; a quick online search should connect you with one not far from your location. We love community-based collaborations. Or, use a service at Fiverr.

What design programs do you recommend using?

We highly recommend using Adobe Photoshop / Illustrator, Paint.net, and Corel. Or, collaborate with a local creative, so you can have your design done professionally.
