Announcing the Winners of the My Furry Best Friend Competition

We’re excited to announce the winners of our My Furry Best Friend Competition, created in partnership with PetRescue to celebrate the special bond between people and their pets, while raising funds for a cause close to our hearts.

We invited artists and animal lovers to turn the stories of their furry best friends into wearable art. From heartfelt portraits to designs celebrating the little things that make our pets so special, the entries were a reminder of just how much our animal companions mean to us.

After seeing the incredible creativity and love behind the submissions, we’re thrilled to introduce our winning artists and the stories behind their designs.

Meet the winners

Han Dodd (@odd.hand.co)

Han’s design brings together a series of custom pet portraits, each with its own story of love, loss and remembrance. Featuring three rescue pets, Billie, Freddie and Mozart, the artwork celebrates the special bond between pets and their families, while recognising the rescue organisations and people who help make these connections possible.

It’s a thoughtful tribute to the animals who leave a lasting mark on our lives, and the people working behind the scenes to give more pets a second chance at finding a loving home.

Angeline Mayasari (@kkot_minam)

Angeline’s design captures a familiar feeling for anyone who shares their life with a furry companion: the comfort of simply being close to the ones we love.

Inspired by the idea that home isn’t necessarily a place, but the feeling of being safe and loved, the artwork celebrates the quiet companionship her cat Minam brings into her life. Whether Minam is curled up beside her with his belly out or following her from room to room, sometimes being together is all that matters.

Alecia Vass (@happyhour.st)

Alecia’s designs celebrate the wonderfully individual personalities of our pets, with a special focus on the animals who make our lives that little bit brighter.

Her I like dogs and dogs like me design is a love letter to dog people everywhere, capturing the joy and connection that comes with sharing your life with a canine companion.

And because no celebration of pets would be complete without our feline friends, Alecia also created a cat version. The companion design, I like cats and cats like me, gives cat lovers their own way to wear their affection proudly.

Both designs celebrate the simple, universal joy of finding your people, whether they walk on two legs or four.

Anna Mills (@chicken_tommyum)

Anna’s design captures a little moment of affection between her and her rescue dog, a Border Collie who apparently finds it hard to sit still.

As Anna explains, he doesn’t really know how to take a break. It’s only when bedtime rolls around that he’ll finally tolerate having his nose pressed against hers.

Featuring a close-up illustration of their noses almost touching, with a little love heart floating above, the design celebrates those small, intimate moments that make life with a rescue pet so special.

More than just a T-shirt

The My Furry Best Friend competition was created as part of our partnership with PetRescue, with fundraising at its heart.

PetRescue is Australia’s leading digital pet adoption platform, connecting people looking to adopt with rescue organisations, shelters, councils and other member organisations across the country. Its work helps save the lives of rescue pets by making it easier for people and pets to find each other.

Funds raised through this partnership help PetRescue continue its work helping rescue pets find loving homes and giving more pets a second chance.

By bringing together art, community and a shared love of animals, we wanted to celebrate the special bond between people and their animal companions, while supporting the work that helps more people find their best friend.

Thank you to everyone who entered <3

A huge thank you to everyone who shared their stories, submitted their artwork and helped bring this competition to life. The love and creativity behind the entries made this collaboration something special.

And congratulations again to Han, Angeline, Alecia and Anna! We can’t wait to see these designs out in the world.

The winning designs are available now through https://petrescueau.myshopify.com/, so you can show some love for your favourite furry friends while supporting a great cause.
