There are few things greater than a true blue Australian Summer, and if you live in Queensland like we do that means 181 days of sunshine, beach days, the odd summer storm and, of course, a seemingly endless string of crazy, sweaty festivals.
Festival season always seems to creep up on us when we’re least expecting it – but this year we’re determined to be prepared!
We’ve made a checklist for all you Festie-heads, new and old, to make the transition between office jock/stressed student and mellow festival fellow a little easier.
Perfect Festival Outfit
The most important thing at a festival is looking cool (pun intended). Protect yourself from the harsh Aussie sun and look great all day long with some of our top picks:
The Top The perfect balance between singlet and dress, the AS Colour Barnard tank is every girl’s perfect “I woke up like this” summer outfit. Think Ksubi cuts with a sturdier crew neck collar for optimum airflow and a lesser chance of wardrobe malfunctioning in the mosh! TIP: The Print Bar ladies pair the Barnard with a singlet, bralette or under shirt The Ramo Slim Fit Tank is also a great pick for a fresh festival outfit for gals who like a tighter fit and a pop of colour in their cotton tank! Guaranteed to help you sweat less and stand out in the crowd. TIP: This top is ideal if you have a fan girl moment running into your favourite band with nothing for them to autograph but your tank |
The Shoes Anything but sandals and thongs. Literally, anything! The best options usually are Doc Martens, sneakers, Converse skate shoes, Vans or even covered up Birkenstocks. |
The Storage Compartment
Festival regulars will already know this, but a small backpack, sling bag or tote bag are ideal for running around between stages and stashing your necessities. A draw string backpack or tote bag keeps your hands free and means you still have room for your phone, tickets, wallet and camera.
TIP: Our colourful organic Certton Fashion tote bags or AS Colour Carrie Canvas bags are ideal for the festival stomping grounds. Apart from being able to customise the bags with whatever art you want, they’re also affordable, machine washable and environmentally friendly, so it doesn’t matter if they get trashed, lost or covered in mud!
Slip, Slop, Slap!
Sun safety doesn’t have to be dorky. Ditch the zinc! We recommend using Nivea Sun Spray sunscreen (a super light but effective sunblock) and a tinted moisturiser with SPF to avoid sunspots. Caps and bucket hats are also a great way to protect yourself and look cool.
Tip: if you’re keen to wear a cap or hat commit to it – because hat hair. We recommend the AS Colour Bucket hat or the AS Colour Finn 5 Panel cap (email us for embroidery/blank hat quotes).
Keep Hydrated!
Like an athlete before a big race, hydrate heaps the day before (coconut water is a massive helper!) and in between drinks – you’re going to need it to avoid the nasty hangover.
