We don’t know about you, but with spring so close, us TPB’ers are wondering where to put all of our winter gear for the next six (…let’s be honest, more like nine!) months. Although we know there are a plethora of ways to store your winter clothing, few are as effective, fun, wrinkle-free and space saving as what we’re about to show you.
After rigorous testing, our team has come up with the funnest and space saving way to pack away Winter and make room for Spring! By using a rolling and folding technique, you can put all your winter wear into one drawer easily and quickly (and enjoy the process a little more!).
We decided to use a Print Bar Box Crew sweater, crocheted scarf (thanks Gam-Gam!), black AS Colour Cuff beanie and long socks to demonstrate the method. But you can chop and change to suit as long as you start with some kind of top and end with long socks!
STEP ONE
Start with your sweater. Fold the sleeves down and in, creating a rectangle shape.
STEP TWO
Add in some other clothing items. We added a scarf and a beanie.
STEP THREE
Get your socks. Place one on either side of the rectangle. These should be positioned a third to halfway down, with the feet facing in and the ankles facing out from the heel outwards.
STEP FOUR
Roll up all of the clothes, leaving the ankles of the socks hanging out.
STEP FIVE
Fold the socks inside-out to “seal” the roll with the socks.
PRESTO!
You’re done! Pack it away and start the next roll! And incase you missed the steps we’ve got a dandy step-by-step gif for you to follow below.
This is also a primo method for travel packing or if you are moving house. You can put as many items together as the socks will hold. Depending on the socks, this could be a lot! We recommend bed socks for winter gear as they have more stretch to get over your thick winter items. The rolling also helps reduce wrinkles.
